Safeguarding
The North York Moors Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people, and adults at risk.
Through the Trust’s work across conservation, education, recreation we support people to connect with nature, enjoy its benefits and help care for the North York Moors National Park.
We believe that everyone has the right to be safe, protected from abuse, neglect and exploitation, and treated with dignity and respect. We are committed to creating safe, inclusive and supportive environments for all who engage with our activities or events.
Our safeguarding arrangements are designed to protect:
Children, young people, and adults at risk participating in programmes, services and events delivered by staff and volunteers of the North York Moors Trust
Volunteers involved in Trust projects
Anyone who comes into contact with children, young people or adults at risk through activities organised, funded or supported by the Trust
Our safeguarding policies and procedures apply to:
Trustees
Employees
Volunteers
Contractors or freelancers
Some of the Trust’s activities are delivered in educational settings or by specialist contractors.
Where activities take place within an educational setting, that school or educational trust’s safeguarding policies and procedures will normally take precedence for safeguarding matters arising during the activity.
Where activities are delivered by an external contractor or partner organisation or as part of a project or programme partnership, their safeguarding arrangements may take precedence as the primary safeguarding framework for the activity.
The North York Moors Trust expects all organisations delivering activities on our behalf or in partnership with the Trust to maintain appropriate safeguarding policies and procedures. We regularly discuss safeguarding procedures with contractors or partners, including reviewing appropriate policies. Any safeguarding concerns arising during Trust-supported activities may be reported to the Trust's Designated Safeguarding Lead so that appropriate action can be taken and records maintained.
If you have a safeguarding concern relating to a child, young person, or adult at risk connected with a North York Moors Trust activity, please contact:
